How to bootstrap a business to $10m
and beyond.

There is a kind of company that looks successful and a kind that actually produces a good life. The Good Business is the latter.

Drawing from their experience bootstrapping and scaling a company past $10 million in revenue, Christian Hyatt and Christian White name The Good Business and show how to build one, without venture capital or private equity, and without trading your life for your company.

Explore the story

The Good Business is profitable, stable, and built for the long term. It creates freedom instead of consuming it. It supports families, develops leaders, and grows steadily without sacrificing values, culture, or control. It may never be flashy, but over time, it wins.

Most entrepreneurs are never taught how to build this kind of business. They’re taught to chase growth, funding, or exits, only to find themselves trapped in companies that depend entirely on them and take more than they give. This book defines a different path.

Inside, you’ll learn how to:

  • Build a profitable company without outside funding
  • Escape the founder “black hole” where the business depends entirely on you
  • Create a culture where team members thrive and stay for the long term
  • Scale to $10 million and beyond while maintaining freedom and control
  • Make space for life without your business suffering
  • Design a business that strengthens your life instead of consuming it

If you believe business should make life better, not smaller, this book will show you what The Good Business is and how to build it.

What people
are saying

“Good Business is the kind of story every entrepreneur should read because it is the story of actual success rather than someone’s opinion. It is rare that two founders find such complete alignment, seek outside counsel but own their decisions after receiving counsel. This stands right next to Great Game of Business in my view as an authentic story that any entrepreneur can follow.”

– Greg Crabtree, CEO of CRI Simple Numbers and author of Simple Numbers, Straight Talk, Big Profits and Simple Numbers 2.0: Rules for Smart Scaling

“Too many entrepreneurs chase growth without building the foundation to sustain it. This book is a real-world example of disciplined execution, clear strategy, and values-driven leadership. It shows that you can scale past $10M without losing your soul and without losing control. A must-read for serious builders.”

– Verne Harnish, Founder Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), Scaling Up, and author of Start to Scale

“I’ve built my company the long way, one client at a time, one hire at a time. In my 35 years as an entrepreneur, Christian brings one of the most well-rounded viewpoints to the table when strategizing and processing ideas. This book speaks that language. It’s not about hype or headlines. It’s about discipline, values, and doing work you can stand behind for decades. That’s the kind of business that endures.”

– Brian Benson, Founder and CEO, Benson Integrated Marketing Solutions

“This is the kind of business book I wish I had when we were getting started. It doesn’t glorify shortcuts or hype. It tells the truth about what it takes to build something real profitably, patiently, and with your values intact. If you care about doing business the right way, this book will steady your footing.”

– Gary Daemer, President & Founder, InfusionPoints

About the authors

Christian White and Christian Hyatt are the cofounders of risk3sixty, a cybersecurity and compliance consulting firm they bootstrapped from a coffee shop in 2016 to more than $10 million in annual revenue.

Instead of following the traditional startup path of venture capital and rapid exits, they chose a different route: building a profitable, values-driven company designed to last for decades. A long the way, they focused on creating a workplace where people could build meaningful careers, grow as leaders, and enjoy real freedom in their lives.

Today, risk3sixty is recognized as one of the best places to work in consulting, earning awards such as Consulting Magazine’s Best Firms to Work For, the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Hall of Fame for Fastest Growing Companies, and multiple Best Companies to Work For honors.

Through their work advising hundreds of companies and building their own, White and Hyatt have developed a practical philosophy for entrepreneurship they call The Good Business, a business that is profitable, stable, values-driven, and built to support a good life for everyone it touches.

In The Good Business, they share the playbook they wish they had when they started: how to bootstrap, scale, and build a company that creates freedom instead of
consuming it.
